I have wanted TCM to show this movie for a long time. What is holding this up? Were the rights sold off for the 1980 remake? Or could the problem be in the washed out technicolor print that has been circulating for ages among collectors? Are there no decent prints of this film. If this is the case. Wouldn't it be great to have this movie restored to its original visual brilliance. By the way, I have always had a special place in my heart for Jean Simmons.

Man, thanks *cody1949* for bringing this up.

I saw the 1949 original The Blue Lagoon decades ago, well before the Brook Shields remake.

In fact, when I saw that second version I had a sense of deja vu.

I surely would like to see the Jean Simmons version again, at least once before I die.

I've not been able to locate it anywhere to rent or buy, so if TCM has it, I sure wish they'd show it.
