LsDoorMat
There are a slew of precode films scheduled for that date, but I can't figure out who or what is being honored - there seems to be no common thread. Does anybody out there know? Is TCM just throwing a bone to us precode and 30's fans? Just wondering.
ValentineXavier
Taxes were lower then.

Henry Stephenson is in the first three films, Dorothy Jordan in the next three, and Laura Hope Crews in the final four films before prime time. FredCDobbs
That's not true. Texas is at the same elevation as it was in the 1930s.

DownGoesFrazier
I thought that the I.R.S. Commissioner was being honored on April 15th.

Not so. it's sunk a foot, from all the oil pumped out since then.
LsDoorMat
Taxes were low in 1930 - date of the oldest film shown - but by 1940 - when Reno was released, weren't taxes pretty high with the New Deal and all? Besides, tax day is April 18 this year instead of April 15. Thanks for all the replies. You folks are always entertaining and informative.
