spencerl964
I know of another massive fan of these flix, that is ironically visiting Tinsel-Town-(& hopefully will also take the Warner Bros. V.I.P. tour as well) that actually met *James Cagney-(1899-1986) late 1960's via accident. On 1 of his horse-farms. I forget her newest handle, but Holly is her name. Just posting a bit for her in her absence. However, when I visited the WB's tour in 1999 it's now of course mostly used for the majority of tv-series. But to me I kept seeing *Cagney, *Bogey, Edward G. & even George Raft eveywhere-(& as i told her, in it's gift shop an elderly gent is still there that even knew Edward G. & a few others) It's superb Museum-(no photos allowed) is worth price of admission! We actually went into a massive former sound stage-(now used as a warehouse) where there was a small section chained-off of the prison mill in "White Heat!" & yep, even got to see the legendary stairs where *Cagney died in "Roaring 20'S"-(used in soo-many others as well) & to ML, Mongo & Moviejoe, please stay well Thanks
spencerl964
To moviegeek, just about forgot smething you may love Especially if you like these classics It's in TCM's gift section & fairly inexpensive too "Feature Presentation" 2005 Daily Calendar It has more than just the photos of tons of these Gangster flix Trivia, Quotes, Gangster Speak-(on the level) & a lot more. Now that TCM is basically movies unlimited-(as it's store anyway) that is wom you'll get it from. It was only about $10.00 plus tax
spencerl964
Please excuse sloppy writing on last posts' TCM editor, we need an editing button here, PLEASE!!!
moviegeek3000
Cool stuff. Believe I will purchase that. You know, I own an impressive collection of classic film titles; however, I've yet to purchase anything from the TCM Store. *looks at watch* Look at that, it's time to start!! TCM clerks beware, the Geek's coming with DVDs on the brain!!!
coffeedan1927
I just pre-ordered this set from Columbia House. I can't wait! I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the restored, uncensored PUBLIC ENEMY from the original negative that was discovered in Great Britain. This film has been edited for public consumption as late as 1953, and it's going to be a real treat to see it in its uncut glory.
classicsfan1119
Yes, Coffeedan...it would be for the same reasons you gave that I would spring for PUBLIC ENEMY, one of Cagney's very best. Please let us know what you think of it once it's in your hands. ;)ML
moviejoe79
I'm looking forward to this set too - I'm probably gonna order it from DeepDiscountDVD, but Costco is always a good place to get it at a bargain too, once it's released. I'm really surprised that they found this "original" version of "The Public Enemy" - to me that warrants a theatrical re-release of the film. Even if they only did a limited distribution of it in select cities - that would be great. I'm sure there would be enough people who would want to go and see it. Spencer - Regarding your last post, you spoke of taking the Warner Bros. studio tour - I thought they had stopped it? I was looking up online what studios still offer tours, and I thought I read that Warners stopped - If they are still doing tours, please let me know where I can find out more about it. harlowkeatongirl
> it's the Gangster Collection.....just hold-up a > casino or something. There's one on every corner in my town, so they probably wouldn't notice. I could rob $5.00 from each one and have enough to buy a small country AND buy the DVDs.
