My brother and I have recently made a film for the University of Nebraska's "Real Nebraska Video Contest" and have made it to the finals. Too exciting. The grand prize is $1,000 and we'd dearly like to win. This is where you all come in. You get a chance to vote online for whichever video you like best (mine, of course). We're under the title of 'Bright Eye Productions' and are against a group called 'Incognito'. Right now they are winning and their video is really not all that fantastic - they just have a lot of friends. So I have to rely on my friends here. This IS related to old films because there is stock footage of Eisenhower and the United Nations in the 1950s, deliberating on important issues. If you don't have time to make an educated decision by actually watching them both, stick to old loyalties and vote for me anyway. Our movie is 5 minutes long and a satirical comedy of sorts. I'm appealing to you all shamelessly because I really want to win the $1,000. PLEASE take 10 seconds and go to realnebraska.unl.edu and vote for Bright Eye Productions. Besides! It was really funny and well produced. Very clever use of stock footage. Your look at the 'real' Nebraska was extremely entertaining. I do love the state of Nebraska. I make it to Omaha a couple of times of year and was in Lincoln in October to see The Pixies (excellent show!). Anyway, Bright Eyes Productions (This name wouldn't have any connection to the Omaha band BRIGHT EYES, would it??) desrves to win more than Incognito and I wish you the best of luck, DR. I'm bright eye productions because I have particularily light green eyes. I figured that if I could draw attention to my eyes, people'd remember me better. Also, play on the words 'Bright Idea'. Dr. Darcy came from this little discussion with myself. "Hm. Need an alias. What to pick. Well, if I had to change my last name, what would I pick. Well, I will when I get married. I cast my vote (Incognito - 50.57%, Bright Eye - 49.43%) and a box popped up and said 'Do you wish to cast your vote for Bright Eye?' and I happily clicked YES. I think its great to see college people interested in film. Keep up the good work. And in the future when someone says 'Wow. That ginger is fabulous!' I am the frustrated owner of the world's slowest computer, and will have to postpone my viewing of your Video until later. I'm anxious to see it, but after waiting for the buffering to reach only 10% for the past hour, it will have to wait for now. While I was there, I did vote for you, however. My vote put your competition at 50.44% for them and 49.56 for you, so I'm hopefully that "we" will be able to push you over the top today. Based on what my highly respected fellow board members have already said, I'm sure that your Video is the most deserving of the Grand Prize. Come on, gang...let's give these kids our support! Seriously, I liked yours much better, as it had some rather sci fi-like touches amidst all the normal day to day activities, and reminded me a bit of a certain Stanley Kubrick and Doctor Strangelove-like reality. I was expecting my post to get erased by the administration for being unrelated or solicitous or something. I just want to say thank you to all of you that are voting for me! I wish I could buy you all Cary Grant's Biography or something. Your votes really pulled me ahead. Thank god I didn't make any campaign promises! That reminds me of Citizen Kane. Citizen Josie: I entered upon this campaign with one purpose only. To POINT OUT and MAKE PUBLIC the dishonesty, the down right villainy of Real Nebraska's voting machine now in COMPLETE CONTROL of the grand prize money. I make no campaign promises! Because until I posted this plea to you all, I had no hope of having the majority percent. Now, however, I have something more than a hope. And Incognito has something less than a chance. Every straw vote, every vote you guys made shows I will win the finals. Very well then. Now I can look forward to making some promises. The working man and the slum child know they can expect a good documentary in their interest. The decent hard working voters know that I will do everything I can to protect the under filmed, under acted the under budgeted!
