Nancy(Laraine Day)is about to marry wealthy,John willis(Gene Rayburn)but at the last minute,Norman Clyde(Robert Mitchum)a down and out artist,comes forward..

Norman claims Nancy was once married to him and in a flashback tells their story.

Nancy while a young child,was the daughter of the housekeeper.The rich ladies daughter gives Nancy a valuable locket.Angry,the rich women demands the locket back,but soon after its lost.

Years later after Nancy grows up shes soon suspected of stealing and being a bit insane.

Great Film Noir.
