Movie Titles-AKA

a shot at her goes awry

There are three movies that I can think of that would best serve as a correct answer. Here's a clue to one of them. Shirley Temple starred in a movie in the 40s in which she was the title character. Find the one I'm thinking of and then see if it's a valid answer to the original clue. It's possible that my original clue (above) is not very good. If so, apologies. I think it's okay but I may be wrong. So I'll get your feedback on that.

Yes ... also Miss Julie and Miss Sadie Hawkins would have worked. Your turn.

EDIT: Star, was the original clue ok ... or was it a little thin?

I didn't get the clue at all -- please explain? Even after I looked at the list of Shirley Temple 1940's films, I didn't get it.

To be perfectly honest, I only got it because you mentioned Shirley Temple and Miss Annie Rooney was the only title of hers that made any sense.  I understand the intent of your original clue, but, if you'll excuse the pun, I think it missed the mark a little because it seems as though the answer should be in the past tense, i.e., Missed Annie Rooney.  Did that make any sense?

Well, at any rate, this one should be fairly easy:

Blown Away By a Gale

"A shot at her goes awry" is to "Miss Annie Rooney" , both in the present tense so I thought it okay.

to repeat your clue:

Blown away by a gale

Don't worry, Laffite.  I think your original clue was OK.  Like Starliteyes said, we were able to understand the intent of your first clue better when you gave us the hint.  My thoughts were going in a slightly different direction with your original clue.  If you look back through this thread, you'll see that several people had to give additional hints to help to point everyone in the right direction.
