laffite
"3:10 To Yuma"? Don't forget your visor and sun glasses. A case of beer might help. Yuma ain't no picnic weather-wise but one can try. Yours.
MilesArcher
Laffite, I think that you'll find that this thread works best when the clues are more specific. Remember, these are alternate titles for well known movies. Next: Curtin, Dobbs, And Howard In The First Year Of FDR's Presidency

Remember, these are alternate titles for well known movies. Next: Curtin, Dobbs, And Howard In The First Year Of FDR's Presidency Excuse me, Swithin, for interrupting your turn but let me be clear. The clue has to read like a movie title? Or can the clue be any combination words ( a common phrase, for instance). For instance, your clue above, Miles, does not read like a movie title (to me, anyway) whereas Swithin's below does. So any combination then, like a crossword puzzle clue, for instance? Or no, it has read like an actual movie title. Thanks. To repeat Swithin's clue: The Gold Diggers of 1933 --

To repeat Swithin's clue: The Gold Diggers of 1933 -- Hi Lafitte, that's not my clue -- it's my guess related to Miles' clue. The three names he gives are characters in The Treasure of Sierra Madre (i.e. gold diggers). The first year of FDR's Presidency was 1933. Hence my guess: The Gold Diggers of 1933. I'm waiting to hear from Miles as to whether it's a correct guess.
MilesArcher
Swithin, you are correct. As far as Lafitte's question goes, the abbreviation AKA stands for "Also Known As", so my interpretation, and I assume that of other folks as well, is that the clue should read pretty much as an alternate title. That way, there should not be too much confusion. Lafitte's post "A Desert Place And How To Get There" was so general that it went unanswered for a while, prompting Lafitte to post another clue. I was lucky to guess it correctly. I was still quite unsure until I received confirmation. Lafitte, if you look back to the early days of this thread, I think you will see how specific the posters tried to make their clues. When I post, I try to think of the clue being on a theater marquee instead of the actual title, and if it makes sense to someone viewing it. Obviously, my last one made sense to Swithin. Swithin, it's your turn.

Lousy Actress In Both Versions Of "The Man Who Knew Too Much" If you want easy, go to that easy trivia thread. If you like a challenge, stay with me, kids. No guesses yet? The word "Lousy" is just a synonym for a word in the title of the movie. I could have used a word like "Evil" or "Nasty".
Azure
I think we may need another hint for this one, Miles.
MilesArcher
The way to solve it is not much of a secret. The word "Lousy" is a synonym for another word in the title. For the name of the actress in question, go to IMDB and look at the cast lists for each version of "The Man Who Knew Too Much" and find an actress that was in both versions. Use the synonym for "Lousy" and her last name and you should have the title of the movie. As I said in my initial post, some research may be required, and apparently it is. Here's a hint: Think "Wallace Beery".
