MilesArcher
Hooray, we finally have a winner! The word "Lousy" is a synonym for the word "Bad". Actress Betty Bascomb was in both versions of "The Man Who Knew Too Much". So, the movie title is "Bad Bascomb", a 1946 western with Wallace Beery and Margaret O'Brien. So you see, it does read like a move title. How else would I give an alternate title for "Bad Bascomb"? Sometimes when you do a little research, you learn a lot. Swithin, you're next.

Not to me, it doesn't. I doubt you would see that on a marquee. No fair giving a crossword puzzle clue and then relying on the answer to bail you out. But I will do my best to comply ... I came in late and some of the clues I saw didn't seem titles ... but the game title is clear ... It's more of a challenge to come up with a clue this way, that's a good thing. Crossword puzzle clue? OK. let me ask this question once again, this time to anyone who reads this. If you had the movie title "Bad Bascomb" and wanted to make an alternative title for this thread, how would you do it? I used a synonym for "Bad" and I referenced a person named Bascomb. I really would like to know what I should have done. Well, at least Swithin got it, and liked it too. I hope a few others did as well. You know, it's like when you tell a joke to a person and they don't get it. Then you have to explain it. Pretty soon it's more trouble than it's worth. I see that it's my turn again. Maybe this next one will be a bit simpler. Mary Pickford's Father Travels To The Evergreen State Could you see that on a marquee?

Maybe this next one will be a bit simpler. Mary Pickford's Father Travels To The Evergreen State Could you see that on a marquee? No, I can't see that on a marquee, not really. It's a stretch. But if that's an okay clue, I'm getting a better idea of what is permissible. I see some wiggle room here. If you can't find a clue for a movie, then reject it maybe. That's what you might have done. Some titles might not answer well to this game. Bascomb is the surname of some people who have wiki pages, you could have used that. Actually, it was okay with me what you did, and I agree there is cleverness there and I give you credit for it but I was admonished that that the clue has to read like a movie title. Your clue was not, at least in accordance with my current understanding of the rule and what a movie title is. >>>You know, it's like when you tell a joke to a person and they don't get it. Then you have to explain it. Pretty soon it's more trouble than it's worth. I agree, this was too much trouble. Yes, someone got the right answer, but after several days had passed, a clue or two one of which was a sort of blueprint ... and finally a detailed road map to the answer. EDIT: DGF's clue: Sacramento will select in the NBA draft after the Knicks, the '76ers, and the Hawks. That's a movie title? = Edited September 30, 2015 by laffite
Swithin
Kings Go Forth And now that I've ventured my guess to DGF's clue, let me add my two cents to the discussion. This game has worked fine lo these many years. It's fun. Some clues make it easy, others are more challenging and may require several clues over a few days. They're all fine. Relax and enjoy.
