Happy 2005 Everyone!

Strange, I went to bed at around 2:30 last night/morning, and despite a few libations, I woke up at 6:30 this morning feeling fit as a fiddle. I thought I'd crash until noon. Anyway, I want to wish everyone here a Happy and Healthy New Year! I entered this board in April of 2004 (don't know why I waited so long) and despite a minor tiff or two, it has mostly been a great time posting with all of you. The people who post here are such a smart and friendly bunch and I can't wait to see what kind of conversations emerge in 2005. Again, I wish everyone here all of the best in 2005!

Happy 2005. gotta be better than 2004. those poor sad victims in So Asia. I just discovered this board after years of being a TCM fan. actually, COURT TV was nasty IMO and shut their board down last night for a few days for fear of New Year's Eve people getting out of control. so here I am at TCM and glad I found it. I also wanted to vent about the possible exclusion of the 1929 THE LETTER as an extra on the DVD of the 1940 version due next week.

Saw SID AND NANCY for the umpteenth tome on dvd yesterday. First movie in a theater was THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU, last night. Having seen director Wes Anderson's previous films, I have to say I was a bit disappointed, but Cate Blanchett was in it, so it wasn't a total waste........

A very HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone on the Boards, and to all the good folks running TCM as well!

This year, I hope more appreciation is expressed for all the quality, creative programming TCM brings to us, and less nitpicking over the "small stuff."

For New Year's eve, I viewed The Leopard for the very first time (restored Criterion DVD), along with its 1-hour documentary. I know, this is a pretty somber piece for such a celebratory day, but I loved all 4 hours of it. Burt Lancaster was nothing short of amazing, and any person curious about where much of Martin Scorsese's inspiration comes from must see this film.

On New Year's day, I finally got around to watching my DVD edition of The Red Shoes, plus its audio commentary. This film simply gets better for me with each viewing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!

You guys are the best, and I hope that we have a great time in '05 as we've had in '04.

The first thing I watched in the New Year besides the back of my eyelids (after drinking, of course) was the Criterion DVD - "Six Short Films of W.C. Fields" (from Netflix). Some I had seen, like "The Dentist" which is hilarious. But I was happy to discover "The Pharmacist," which was hysterical - As usual Fields is the poor put-upon everyman, a pharmacy owner where everything goes wrong. He definitely was one of the best of all time.

Happy New Year Everybody!!! Having trouble posting (as usual.)

Anyway, I don't think I watch a movie before No Name on the Bullet came on TCM at 9 am CST. I watched most of it. New Years Eve morning I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Very strange but intriguing.
