The Seven Degrees of Paul Newman

How about Patricia Collinge?

Patricia Collinge was in The Little Foxes with Richard Carlson,

who was in The Helen Morgan Story with Paul Newman.

(fwiw, Carlson's role in The Little Foxes was not in the original play; Lillian Hellman added him to her screenplay so there would be "a second sympathetic male to stand alongside Horace among all the venomous Hubbard men."  One suspects also to provide a love interest for Alexandra, and thus give the movie audience some further relief from all the relentless scheming.  Would be interesting to know whether there was also any pressure from the studio involved in this decision, i.e. to make the project more commercially viable.)

If we can use tv shows, William H. Marshall was on an episode of The Man From Uncle with Robert Vaughn, who starred with Newman in The Young Philadelphians.

If you use the movie Maverick (ignoring Mel G.), James Garner makes an appearance in the film as does James Coburn.  Garner starred with Julie Andrews in two films and Andrews was in Torn Curtain with Newman.

Since I have no idea of his connection to Tarantino, someone else can take it.

Hi Chaya, your Maverick answer is totally fine (pturman's original rules specify movie examples only). The Tarantino connection referred only to the particular linking actor I had in mind (Pam Grier, who appeared with Marshall in Scream, Blacula, Scream, and also in Tarantino's Jackie Brown).

You're welcome to post a new prompt, or leave the thread open if you prefer.  🙂
