edgedrv
Univeral has announced two Shirley Temple Paramount films for release as a double feature: LITTLE MISS MARKER with Adolph Menjou and NOW AND FOREVER, with Carole Lombard. Those Lombard films keep coming. It would be nice if FOX would do the same with their Temple films.
adoreblgs
These 2 Paramount films will be the colorized versions which have been on video for 9 years now and its great these will be coming to DVD! As to her Fox films, these are being recolorized and, I have seen samples of HEIDI and believe me, the color is outstanding, looks as if it was truly filmed in color! moviejoe79
It would be nice to see Shirley's movies that were FILMED in color, especially if it was restored. But who wants to see a colorized version? They're awful. I certainly hope that the ones Universal is releasing will be in their original Black and White. edgedrv
moviejoe79, I agree I don't want colorized movies. Hopefully, Universal releases the original B&W with the colorized if they intend to colorize.
tflight9
I'm against colorization too, but I have to admit that occasionally I've seen one that I've been favorably impressed by. I saw a TV broadcast of THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S that wasn't bad at all--and I saw a colorized version of two lesser known Temple films, MISS ANNIE ROONEY and YOUNG PEOPLE, that made the otherwise drab B&W features look a little more lively. In fact, the job on ROONEY was better than most. But I have yet to see one that totally convinces me the film was photographed in the rich beauty of technicolor. childstarletsfan
I have seen samples of the new colorized HEIDI and this truly looks like technicolor! Fox is working on the rest of Shirley's films. there was a side by side comparission of the old colorized version with the new colorizing and by gosh, its totally amazing! Truly, you would believe it was really filmed in color its that good!!! MISS ANNIE ROONEY, as you said, looks fantastic and the color for LITTLE MISS MARKER and NOW AND FOREVER have the same great true looking color. When you get to finally see the new colorizing for her films, you will be amazed!
tflight9
You have me curious to see what a colorization of HEIDI looks like, because that's the Temple film that cried out for technicolor. With quite a bit of outdoor scenery, it ought to be one of the better colorized films.
tomagain77
colorization sucks......plain and simple.
childstarletsfan
I want to show you just how good the new colorizing is for HEIDI. This link is for those of you who have high speed internet. It will take about 3 minutes to download and then you will see samples of this new colorized version along with the older not very good colorized version as a side by side comparison.Be sure to turn your volume up as there is sound from the movie. This link works fine for me and should for you too. Here is the link: http://legendfilms.net/demos/heidiSplitHi.swf
moviejoe79
Personally I don't care how GOOD it looks - the fact is, they're violating a classic film in trying to alter it from the way it was meant to be seen. That is just wrong and I don't agree with it. Those of us who are true classic film fans do not condone Colorization in any form. Would you wanna spruce up the Mona Lisa with spray paint? No, of course not. And the same should go for classic films.
tomagain77
Amen Joe ! How bout we take some old Louis Armstrong recordings and have Kenny G blow some modern sounding background horns on it recorded in a state of the art studio! WOW! or.......... Those old Beatle recordings sure could use some spicing up......let's get Mariah Carey to do some background vocals on the "Let It Be" recording! NO.....we don't need to ask George Martin.....he was only the dang producer! I'm sure John Lennon and George Harrison would have loved it! We can no longer ask them so let's just do it!!! YAY Tom
therealfuster
is so wonderful! Everytime I see him in a film, I remember that he was considered the best dressed man in Hollywood by those of sartorial splendor standards, and his couture is always immaculate and stylish in his films. He's great in Little Miss Marker, and thanks for the heads up on the DVD release!
moviejoe79
Adolph Menjou was also excellent in "Stage Door" which is coming to DVD very soon - March I think.
