4) Dead End Kid Leo Gorcey often adlibbed on set, when he tried it with James Cagney in one scene, Cagney gave him a elbow to the forehead and told him to cut that "g*d damn nonsense."  Huntz Hall later said Gorcey hated Cagney the rest of his life.

3.  Edie Adams took the part of Monica Crump soon after the death of her husband Ernie Kovaks in 1962.    Kovaks died owing quite a bit of money and Adams was determined to keep working to pay off those debts.

7.  Stan Laurel was offered a cameo.  He turned it down, having pledged never to work again after the death of Oliver Hardy.  The role then went to Jack Benny who wears a bowler in the scene as a nod to Laurel.
