Osborne Intro's

Is it just me, or have the Robert Osbourne intros been slipping lately? Out of all four movies I watched on TCM last night(January 24), there was nothing really informative or interesting. It felt like he just picked out random trivia and said it on the air. I don't watch the guy on the weekends, and I only watch The Essentials whenever there is something I want to see on, but I was disappointed when I didn't learn anything interesting before or after the movies I watched.

Oh I agree. But last night was the worst. WHo in hell is watching those silents until 3Am when they showed what ought to have been aired earlier; those wonderful Val Lewton noir flicks. I mean do they really think people would stay tuned that long? I doubt it. Alright so they incorporated new music--fine - now put that music score & tie it to a talking film!

Leo, mi amigo, what does Osborne's intros have to do with what was broadcast last night? Once again, you completely miss the point. emwriterdude says that he watched the films last night, but was disappointed with the lack of info given in the intros. Once again, many TCM viewers were very pleased to see the films TCM gave us last night, and of course, you are always free to change the channel whenever TCM doesn't cater to your limited tastes........

sorry keith but you missed the point--last nite the 24th silents were shown until 3AM - what a shame thaat those Val Lewton films came on so late --can't believe anyone would worry about what Osborne's intro's were about when what came after was hardly appealing and I do often look at other channels unless something I've not seen in last year is on---

I was disappointed in Mr. O the other night after watching Sporting Blood starring Clark Gable and Madge Evans. My husband and I always wait and listen to Robert Osborne's introduction after we've watched the movie (a luxury of TiVo!) so that we won't hear a plot synopsis that gives away too much.

Well, he was not quite accurate in his description. If he watched the movie, it must have been long before he wrote the intro, because he confused the details of a pivotal plot point.
