The Young Philadelphians

Recommended Posts

Great film. May me see Paul Newman as a good actor instead of just a boytoy (cool hand luke was a good movie inspite of his performance, basically the movie gave newman a perfect pitch and he knocked it out the park). Also had a great performance by Barbra Rush and a oscar worthy performance by Brian Keith. Great story about the upper classes and fitting in, compromise and what you give up to attain your dreams, the prices of ambition. My only complaint is that they ended it too quick. The story I mean, it was primed for a 4 hour grand hollywood treatment. The first part would be him losing and finding his love, becoming a lawyer and defending his friend, the second part (after intermission) would be his running for office as mayor of philadelphia which I thouch was set up pretty nicely in the film. What do you think?
