bhryun
Who was the best? Wouldn't it be cool if TCM had a Joan Crawford and Bette Davis marathon that played their films back to back? Here are some ideas: Beyond the Forest VS. Flamingo Road The Virgin Queen VS. Queen Bee The Star VS. Sudden Fear Now Voyager VS. Mildred Pierce Mr. Skeffington VS. Humoresque Another Man's Poison VS. This Woman is Dangerous (the flops!) Well, I tried to pick movies that were equals to each other (one not being necessarily better than the other). What do you think? Personally, I have always thought Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were equally brilliant actresses. Jon
moviejoe79
Hi Imperial1977, and welcome to the boards. We had a discussion similar to this in the "Favorites" section of the boards. I think you're right, that Bette and Joan were equally dynamic in their own way. But of course everyone has their favorites. Personally, I think Bette was a better actress, but I do enjoy Joan a lot, and I admire the fact that she worked at being a great actress, and succeeded with "Mildred Pierce." But for raw talent, and a totally commanding screen presence, I have to give it up to Bette.
brackenhe
Ms. Davis is the greatest actress that ever graced the screen, but she's my favorite so I might be a little biased. But I do enjoy Joan's movies too and any time TCM wants to show either one of them (especially 30's and 40's films) is fine with me.
