JamesJazGuitar
Nice picture from Beat The Devil. I have a funny story about that movie. My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Italy (more for me since she lived there and this is where we got married), and we went to Ravello. She had never been there before. Well we are walking around and I felt I had been there before. I knew where certain things were going to be and this surprised her and me. It took me a while before I remembered that I had seen the place in Beat The Devil. We stood at the same place where Bogie first makes a pass and Jones (where the little white statues are and that wonderful view of the coast). TopBilled
Thanks. I love this film. It is irreverent and fun. I bet you and your wife thought you were experiencing deja vu, or had lived in Italy in a past life! Speaking of Italy, have you seen SEPTEMBER AFFAIR? John Huston also directed Jones in the remake of A FAREWELL TO ARMS, before he and Selznick parted ways. Charles Vidor took over, and he receives screen credit. We are getting a good number of her films from TCM these days, but I'd like to see them show the rarer ones that are available. Were going to get THE WOMEN again this spring and THE PHILADELPHIA STORY is scheduled twice in that time. Still, a Weidler rerun is better than none at all. And if someone at Universal would get on the ball, the Prince and I would both be happy.
TopBilled
I am glad you mentioned THE WOMEN. I had looked in your thread, and I do not think you had really discussed Weidler's work in this picture. She was put in a lot of B-films and routine programmers, but THE WOMEN, along with THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (which you mentioned) are her biggest A-films, and she has memorable material in both.
