DownGoesFrazier
Agreed. I recently posted on another thread that MWFT is the saddest movie ever made. Even an insensitive brute like myself had tears welling up in his eyes.

Yes, the TCM programmers do seem to have a sense of humor at times, don't they?
lavenderblue19
Maybe it's their way to get back at viewers for the Alec, Ben and NBNW complaints. (LOL)
DownGoesFrazier
They should show films on New Year's Eve that have New Year's Eve themes in their plots. THE APARTMENT is one of these. What are some others?
Swithin
My favorite Mae West film, *Every Day's a Holiday*, opens on New Year's Eve 1899/1900. It's never shown and would be perfect for New Year's Eve. Woody Allen's *Radio Days* is another -- great New Year's Eve scenes at the end, though Radio Days is shown occasionally. THE APARTMENT is one of these. What are some others? A favorite of mine is REPEAT PERFORMANCE (1947) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039761/combined It gives Joan Leslie a chance to do more dramatic acting than Warner Bros. was giving her, especially in her last few years there. Another: The just-shown AFTER THE THIN MAN (1936).
JamesJazGuitar
Its Love I'm After with Leslie Howard, Bette Davis and Olivia De Havilland is set on New Year Eve Day. This is a very funny comedy and well worth seeing.
