stph035
Does anyone know what happened to the TCM channel? I can no longer view it and the channel itself has completely disappeared.
slaytonf
It's still working for me on Time Warner in San Diego. Check with your local provider to find out what happened.
FredCDobbs
It's still on my DIRECTV. Your cable company might want you to pay more money for it to get it back. They would probably call that a "higher tier" package.
DownGoesFrazier
Just yanking the channel with no notice and no announcement is not the best customer relations.
rayallen
When my local carrier went digital, we required a converter box to get all the channels. TCM was among those that were no longer available without it. We have a box on the main set, but the other television doesn't, and I can't get TCM (and others like TLC, SyFy, etc.) on the second set. stph035
Thanks everyone...I will definitely look into it. It's also happened with a few other channels that I use to enjoy.
ValentineXavier
If you don't have a cable box, probably you cable company took them off the analog band, so you'll need a box to get them. Also, Comcast is moving TCM to a higher tier - from Digital Standard to Digital Preferred. So, you might have lost it that way. Call your cable co. DownGoesFrazier
When you say that Comcast is moving TCM to digital preferred, how do you know that that applies to all Comcast locations? It is still on digital standard for me, and I have seen no announcement of any change.
lavenderblue19
You're lucky. I have Comcast and it is not part of the standard package. I had to get the Digital Preferred package to get TCM. So I guess the answer to your question is different stations and prices for different areas. Very unfair.A few months ago I contacted Comcast to find out if I could get METV in this area, they said no. It turns out that ComCast does carry METV in other locations in this state, just not in my area., but less than 200 miles away ComCast does carry the station! DownGoesFrazier
The package I have is not a package for my area. It is a package specific to my very large condo, and possibly other condos in the city. Maybe there is more clout if a condo having over 800 residential units is negotiating the deal. ValentineXavier
Condos and apartments most usually negotiate a custom channel package with the local cable provider, so TCM being moved to Digital Preferred probably wouldn't affect that package, at least not without new negotiations. Usually, apartment/condo situations will let you pay more, and get the same packages available to anyone else in the area, from the cable provider. As others have said, Comcast makes changes in different areas, at different times. Usually, a change like moving TCM to a more expensive tier, would eventually happen everywhere, just not everywhere at once.
