lanceroten
Ok, I had Mr Arkadin on the DVR since last August and finally got around to watching it. I've seen a few Welles movies over the years. Citizen Kane, The Stranger, The Third Man, Lady from Shanghai, Touch of Evil. All pretty good, with The Stranger being the best of the bunch for my taste. Now , Mr Arkadin. Watching that was like, I don't know how to describe it. To me it was...junk. I simply didn't get the movie at all. Am I just out to lunch on that movie and can't figure out what Welles was doing or is that movie simply not of great quality?
slaytonf
I think you can answer this question for yourself. Consider that out of your list of films that Orson Welles made, or was in, and thought "pretty good," you preferred The Stranger.
ValentineXavier
In my estimation, *Mr. Arkadin* is Welles' third best film, with *ToE* being #1, and *CK* being #2. But, probably not many would agree with me.
Leanox
Have you seen *Journey Into Fear* (1943) in which Welles acted, produced? This film is a bit odd as well - he was working on *It's All True* at the time (we know how that turned out). Again, this may have been a different film if the editing was under Welles' supervision. lanceroten
Nope, haven't seen Journey into Fear. I'm taking a break from Welles movies for a bit. Clear the mechanism as Costner would say
