Talk About a Stranger--truly Film Noir??

Recommended Posts

Saw this movie the other day. Not bad, not that good. It actually reminded me more of a Timmy and Lassie type movie than a genuine Noir.

Yet it's listed as a Noir in Spencer Selby's DARK CITY.

Anyone else think it's not really a Noir???

I haven't seen it, but I've found Spencer Selby's DARK CITY to be a bit too inclusive. I resently watched Undercurrent (which is one of the 25 Noirs he write an essay about) and didn't like it at all, it's more of a Gothic melodrama than a noir.

Looked the book over again and believe you are correct. In his list of 490 films, there seem to be several that --reading the description--don't quite fit the Noir genre. But I imagine he did include all the ones that SHOULD be in there???
