EveCairo
Kevin Brownlow is going to be at the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley on March 30th talking about the restoration. I was thinking maybe he will be talking elsehwhere as well. Here's another article about him and the restoration. http://www.filmjournal.com/filmjournal/content_display/news-and-features/features/movies/e3ied2622b67c7e782e3bc810ef4061b8c6?imw=Y
gagman66
Yes, I've seen this. Great piece. Kevin has wanted to make the Fairbanks documentary since 2007. Little funding has materialized. How disappointing is that? In another article Kevin compares THE ARTIST to a Colleen Moore movie. Said it gave him the same type of feeling. So now Warner's and TCM, how about a few Colleen Moore movies??? Here it is in USA TODAY. http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/movieawards/oscars/story/2012-02-17/silent-films-silent-performances-receive-oscar-attention/53123208/
EveCairo
I think anyone who watches or loves silent movies really owes him a debt of gratitude.
muscur
You all do know NAPOLEON isn't the only orchestra plus organ with silent film show in upcoming weeks. For instance, I'm performing at the organ together with with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra for the 1920 Douglas Fairbanks silent film adventure THE MARK OF ZORRO on April 19 & 20 in Indianapolis at the local art museum, and then over to the grand Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ in Buffalo for accompanying Lon Chaney in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA playing the 1925 original score by G. Hinrichs and M. Winkler at Shea's Buffalo movie palace together with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday, April 22. The grand movie palace experience with silent films and live music is back . . . thank you, THE ARTIST, for winning the Oscar and reviving our specialist interest for the general public!
