Most useless award?

Here's that thread I threatened you all about...

My nomination for the most useless award is "The People's Choice Award".

Many folks think this is the TRUE award, because the winners are chosen by THE PEOPLE!(yes!)

But I look at it this way...

It was THE PEOPLE who re-elected Nixon, Reagan, and GW.

It was THE PEOPLE who made Disco music so popular.

It was THE PEOPLE who spent millions of dollars buying PET ROCKS!

Which to me means that a PEOPLE'S CHOICE award is a dubious honor at best!

Well, the "andriod theory" doesn't explain the "Pet Rocks". Nor does it clear up the issue of the popularity of "The Bachelor" or "Dancing With The Stars"! But as long as I'm on "thin ice"...

I'll also add "The ALMA Awards". The Latino "In Your Grill" display. Now off the bat, I remind you all my wife is Mexican, and feels pretty much the same. Our complaint is this...

While the Oscar (which could ALSO be a Latino award) awards, Golden Globe awards, SAG awards and such might list five or so as nominees for "Best ACTOR/ACTRESS", or "SUPPORTING ACTOR/ACTRESS" in whatever type of genre, the ALMA's will list EVERY Latino who ever appeared in ANYTHING! One year the list of names was 15 strong! Come ON now...

I forwarded the jest to my wife that they should at least give a "Lifetime Achievement" award to Eli Wallach, my wife's favorite "Mexican" actor!
