filmlover
There are some people you have captured in a moment in time and cannot imagine them dying because they are too young. Davy Jones is one. I always think of him in that time era of "The Monkees." He died today of a heart attack. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2012/02/monkees-star-davy-jones-dies-at-age-66/1 Edited by: filmlover on Feb 29, 2012 1:35 PM

DownGoesFrazier
Good thing. Most people refer to him as "Bowie". I can't imagine people referring to him as "Jones".

Sepiatone
There used to be a section in Casino Windsor called the Showtime Bar where musical guests would perform. My wife and I saw a Beatles tribute band named The Caverners there. One time Davey Jones was appearing. We didn't get tickets for him, but we could hear him while playing the slots just outside of the area. That was about 2002 or so. Doesn't really seem that long ago. My ex was nuts about him. This is a shame. Rest in peace, Dodger... Sepiatone
hamradio
Very sad to hear this, I never realized he was that *young!* My family had some of their records since their inception during the 1960's. I replaced their "Greatest Hits" LP in 1979 and took great care of it since. I use to watch their TV series when I was a teenager and there is a song I can not figure out the name of, which is one of my favorites. I made a crude recording of it using a microphone held up to the TV speaker on the first generation cassette recorders - still have that tape! This is one of my toughest to find title regarding music since "Laugh, Laugh" by Beau Brummels! I found out that title in 2002 (Yikes almost 40 years!!) newclassicfilmfan
So sorry to hear of his passing. Davy Jones was a great singer and nice person. I loved the Daydream Believer song. He was so boyish and cute back in the Monkee Days. RIP sweet man.
Sepiatone
The BIO channel showed his story last night, followed by a history of The Monkees. Urban legend has it that Peter Tork used to hang with a circle of people that included Steve Stills, and most of their friends used to joke that they looked like brothers. And even that it was Stills who encouraged Pete to audition. Well, Tork DID look a bit like Steven Stills back then, but in the interviews on BIO, he looks a lot more like Steven Spielberg now. According to the info on BIO, Jones got his acting start on, of all things, *Coronation Street* , back when he was 11 or so! Sepiatone
lzcutter
> According to the info on BIO, Jones got his acting start on, of all things, Coronation Street , back when he was 11 or so! He also was on the London stage as the Artful Dodger in the musical, *Oliver!* and appeared with the Broadway cast on the Ed Sullivan Show the same night the Beatles appeared on the show. margarita_salt
So sorry to hear of his passing... He was one of the greats. He was a favorite of my Mom's when she was a little girl and I listen to the Monkees as well. RIP Davy Jones.
