Yes, and we finally got a Paramount premere of an old Joel McCrea movie and it seems to be restored to its original running time. MAY 30 - WELLS FARGO. Now don't make any last minute changes TCM.Thank you very much.

Thanks 'classicstarlets'.

Who has seen Joel McCrea's *Frenchie* before? I hear it is based on *Destry Rides Again*.

And I am happy to see TCM pulling out their documentaries for repeat showings - "Irving Thalberg: Prince Of Hollywood" (2005) and "Rita" (2003), about Rita Hayworth.

Hi Kyle:

I saw it on Encore's Westerns channel in the last year or so. It is very much like it if not an actual remake. Shelley Winters and Marie Windsor have a pretty good fight. It is more Winters' story than McCrea's but it sure looked good in glorious color.

Okay film. Not nearly as good as "Destry Rides Again" but can be fun if you're in for some entertainment that won't tax you.

I saw FRENCHIE about 40 years ago. It flips the original a bit, it's Shelley Winters as the titular character who is in search of vengeance while also presiding over the gambling in town. McCrea gets all the folksy lines of the character Destry (renamed in this film), but he appears less motivated than Frenchie.

It's pleasant enough, but even the Audie Murphy take on DESTRY is preferable.

I really wish they could have dug up THE SILVER CORD for McCrea month.

It looks like Thursdays in May are dedicated to crime dramas.

I'm pretty happy with the schedule, although I wish they had shown some films for Robert Montgomery's birthday that aren't seen very often such as "So This is College" or "Made on Broadway" or especially "The Man in Possession". The ones they are showing are aired pretty often.

SO THIS IS COLLEGE is also a Joel McCrea movie so I expected it to be shown in May.

It's an MGM that has been on TCM before, so presumably there should be little or no problem in acquiring it.

But at least a nice print of it is available through Warner Archives for those who can't wait for it to come on TCM again.

Stanwyck fans will love the 29th, where it's all Babs for the first 14 hours. Four of these movies haven't been shown on TCM for several years at least, and the first four of the day are among her best roles ever:

P.S. Sorry about the format, but I can't see how to make the type size uniform.
