bhryun
It would be great if TCM would do a series on this little giant that kept the British film industry going. It is best known for using the talents of PETER CUSHING and CHRISTOPHER LEE but had used such talent as BRIAN DONLEVY, BARBARA PAYTON, RAQUEL WELCH, DEAN JAGGER, ANDREW KEIR, HOWARD DUFF, FREDDIE FRANCIS, NIGEL STOCK, ERIC PORTER, HILDEGARD KNEF,JIMMY HANLEY, RICHARD MATHESON,RAY HARRYHAUSEN and many others. For Great Britan, this was a very important film company that generated not only $ but acclaim.
movieslover1000
TCM ran a number of Hammer Horror in Oct. 03. These were a one time showing. Weather they can get broadcast rights to any more, I have no clue. They are good movies.
flickerknickers
I'm with you all the way, Ganovan, regarding Hammer Studios. Some of my all-time faves came from there--especially "Brides of Dracula," and the brilliant fantasies like "She" and the fur-and-flesh epics like "Creatures the World Forgot," and "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth." You could always count on Hammer for having brilliant technical expertise and outstanding casts. "Horror of Dracula" is fantastic, as is "Curse of the Werewold" and "Village of the Damned" (or am I thinking of another studio for this one?) bhryun
TCM should find a way to run FLESH AND BLOOD: THE HAMMER HERITAGE OF HORROR narrated by Peter Cushing (his final performance about 2 weeks before his death I understand) and CHRISTOPHER LEE. It is a great documentary about the studio and all connected to it.
nsallieharding
The Movie Channel and Flix play many of the Hammer films from the 50's through the 70's. They also play alot of the Vincent Price horror movies. I get these channels through Showtime Unlimited on Directv. I love all the Hammer movies and when I saw them showing up on a regular bases on Flix, I went ahead and picked up that channel. Its a great companion to TCM. bhryun
Sounds Great! I really like the ignored titles by Hammer: THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH, TERROR OF THE TONGS PIRATES OF BLOOD RIVER and NIGHT CREATURES. Have you got these in a nice transfer?
