RMeingast
Howdy, Nice to see TCM airing some Peter Ustinov films on the anniversary of his birthday today. I've always liked him. An amazingly gifted person. Among the movies today on TCM, he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for "Topkapi." Nominated for Best Supporting Actor for "Quo Vadis." Happy B-Day, Mr. Ustinov! Dmallon
He actually managed to stand out in the movie Spartacus, while working with Olivier, Laughton, Douglas, and other fine actors. Always interesting to watch.
XYZMAD
Has anyone heard the LP he recorded in the late 1950s "Grand Prix of Gibralter"? I listened to it in the 1960s and still get a laugh when I think of it. He was a very funny man.

Always interesting to watch. And for very good reason: Kubrick allowed his camera to linger on Ustinov's pliable features for countless shots of his reacting to what the other characters said and did. Ustinov and the Academy's voters both knew the old saying that acting is reacting.
clore
One year I got him a monogrammed smoking jacket but he refused to wear it.
DownGoesFrazier
He was the original choice to do THE PINK PANTHER. Clouseau may have gotten a somewhat different interpretation with him.
