Hoppity Goes To Town(1941)

Pretty good film about a grasshopper(Hoppity)who returns to his hometown of Buggville and saves his true love,Honey The Bee from the evil MR Beetle.

 

 

Sadly when this film came out it got sunk at Pearl Harbor.People had more important things on their minds than a cartoon and it got little attention.In the years after WW2 it did better.

 

 

Good Frank Losser/Hoagy Carmichael score.Songs Were The Couple In The Castle and Boy,Oh Boy are standouts.

IMO, the best of the two animated feature films the Fleischer Bros. made. Still, I much prefer their shorts with Betty Boop, Popeye, and Koko the Clown.

I liked MR Beetles two henchmen,Smack the Jimmy Durante type mosquito and Swat The Flly(Smack The Mosquito,Swat The Fly,Get It?)
