bhryun
As much as I enjoy the old Warners DEAD END KIDS, I think it would be great to see the Allied Artist BOWERY BOYS series. I really would love a copy of BOWERY BOYS MEET THE MONSTERS from a nice broadcast quality source!
bansi4
Ganavon, I believe TCM aired a batch of Bowery Boys films a few years ago and more recently an all day showing of The East Side Kids. I expect they may show the Bowery Boys flicks, hopefully again sometimes soon. Mongo
spencerl964
To Mongo, etc MovieJoe, was writing of what is left of the studios in Hollywood these days. & speaking of just that. Though it's not exactly Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The actual studio that The Bowery Boys filmed most of their flix-(not including of course "Dead End Kids" "East Side Kids" stuff though) Is still in use today. As is Raleigh Studios-(it dates back to 1914 & the likes of *Mary Pickford-(1893-1979) & tv's legendary "Superman" series was filmed here as well! (5300 Melrose Avenue) & though not obviously a studio: Bronson Caves-(Brush Canyon) is where tons of flix were filmed & used as backdrops. Including the jungle sequence from the original "King Kong" Most famously used for tv's "Batman" as entrance to the bat-cave. "Star Trek," shot footage around here. & tv's "Gunsmoke" & "Bonanza" & just to touch on a couple legendary places still-standing>The long, long, stairway from "Laurel & Hardys," ACADEMY AWARD Winning: Best Comedy Short: "The Music Box" (1932) It was also used in a 1940 "Three Stooges" Short. Located 900 Block Vendome St. I know this is not that exact topic, but I thought I would throw that info in there for all
beastooge
> The long, long, stairway from "Laurel & Hardys," > ACADEMY AWARD Winning: Best Comedy Short: "The Music > Box" (1932) It was also used in a 1940 "Three Stooges" > Short. Located 900 Block Vendome St. The Stooges stairs from AN ACHE IN EVERY STAKE (1941) are a different set, but like the MUSIC BOX stairs (which were also used for L&H's HATS OFF in 1929 and Billy Bevan's ICE COLD COCOS in 1926), they are also located in the Silver Lake section of LA. L&H MUSIC BOX stairs 3278 Descanso Dr. (top of stairs) and 923-935 Vendome St. (bottom of stairs). The Vendome location is about 1-1/2 blocks from the intersection of Vendome & Sunset Blvd., on the south side of Sunset. Three Stooges AN ACHE IN EVERY STAKE stairs From Sunset & Vendome, travel east on Sunset for a few blocks, and turn left onto Alvarado St.; Alvarado merges into Glendale Blvd. Left on Glendale, go a couple blocks, and right onto Alessandro St. (just past the Jack in the Box that sits on the site of the old Sennett Keystone Studios). A couple hundred yards, left onto Fair Oak View; go to the end of the street, and turn right; 1/2 block, and you'll see the stairs at 2200 Fair Oak View Terrace. bhryun
I think it is in NO HOLD BARRED, which deals with wrestling, Huntz Hall wears the very spacesuit Michael Rennie wore in THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.
deeanddaisy666
Funny. Stairs as a movie memory. The Laurel and Hardy stairs are imprinted in my brain, as are the stairs in The Exorcist.
bhryun
Does anyone know what set/location LOUIES MALT SHOP was filmed during THE BOWERY BOYS films? It seems I've seen it used in other movies. "OOOOHHHH CHIEF! OH CHIEF!"
