misswonderly3
Sounds like Chopin to me. Maybe one of his nocturnes. ( I haven't looked at Fred's link yet.) Ok, now I've checked out the link. I was right ! At least about its being Chopin - it's not one of the other pieces listed. But it's not one of his nocturnes. Apparently it's this: * "Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23" \ (1835-36) (uncredited) \ Music by [Frédéric Chopin|http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006004/] Edited by: misswonderly on Jun 24, 2012 6:53 PM

ugaarte
Thanks ever so much, Fred and MissWonderly, for your search. I enjoy this music, especially the beginning, which seems to be the part played on 'Gaslight'. And I've heard this piece played in other movies, as well. I can't think offhand which movie, but my ears always 'perked' up whenever I hear this tume. Chopin's Ballad no. 1 in G minor, Op. 23 . . . got it ! Thanks again ! misswonderly3
Chopin wrote many very fine pieces, most of them for the piano. He was, I believe, considered a composer from the "Romantic" era. You've probably heard a lot of his music in movies and perhaps not even realized it. Here's my very favourite piece by him, the exquisitely beautiful "Raindrop Prelude":

misswonderly3
Right, and all those pictures supposedly painted by Vincent van Gogh were really done by Kirk Douglas. :|
Sepiatone
Wilde played a mean piano. And who knew Steve Allen could play clarinet as good as he did? Sepiatone
DownGoesFrazier
Allen did so many things well, that I wouldn't be surprised if he could play clarinet.
