MilesArcher
While we're on the subject, one of "The Rhythm Boys" was related to a famous television producer. Which Rhythm Boy is it and who is the producer?
DownGoesFrazier
Harry Barris was the uncle of Chuck Barris, creator and producer of "The Gong Show".

DownGoesFrazier
This bandleader started up his band in the early 1920s. Several future famous bandleaders of the swing and big band eras played with him as musicians, and a future Hollywood star sang with his band. Who was he, and who are some of the people who played or sang with his band?
Sepiatone
I would hazard a guess at "RED" NICHOLS, whose past band members were Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Pee-Wee Russell, Jack Teagarden and Gene Krupa. But I'm unaware of any singers. Sepiatone
DownGoesFrazier
You are unaware of any singers becuase that's not the correct answer. The singer is occasionally seen in a TCM clip with this bandleader.
DownGoesFrazier
The singer who sang with this bandleader, and in the future became a big movie star, was a female.
MilesArcher
At various times, Artie Shaw, Xavier Cougat, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, and Glenn Miller were all members of the Vincent Lopez Orchestra. In later years, Betty Hutton became a vocalist with the band.
MilesArcher
Thanks. Another popular band from the twenties transitioned to the thirties and added a female singer. When the band was hired to appear in a movie, the singer was suppsosed to have only a small role. However, the movie's leading lady decided at the last minute to leave the production. The bandleader convinced the producers that his singer could play the lead. She did play the lead and was signed to a long term contract with the studio, leaving the band and becoming a major movie star. Can you name the singer, the band, and the movie that I referred to? Extra credit if you know the actress who walked out on the film, paving the way for the singer to impress the producers.
DownGoesFrazier
Alice Faye?? Rudy Vallee? GEORGE WHITE'S 1935 SCANDALS? Lillian Harvey?
MilesArcher
Pretty close, finance. Although she was in "George White's 1935 Scandals", it was the pevious years version, "George White's Scandals", where she made her movie debut with Rudy Vallee. Here is a clip. Alice Faye was nineteen when this movie came out. Your turn, finance.

lavenderblue19
Correct, finance. Bacall announced their engagement and the story is Sinatra promptly called it off. Seems a little callous on his part, he must have been really annoyed with the announcement. You're up.
