filmlover
From hollywoodreporter.com: The only son of *Humphrey Bogart* and *Lauren Bacall* is launching an annual film festival that honors his dad in — where else? — the Florida resort town of Key Largo. The inaugural Humphrey Bogart Film Festival will take place in May in the spot made famous by the tense 1948 Bogart-Bacall thriller Key Largo. The Warner Bros. film was directed by *John Huston* and also starred *Edward G. Robinson*, *Lionel Barrymore* and best supporting actress winner *Claire Trevor*. “We have long been looking for a natural home for a family-backed Bogie film fest, and we believe there is no better place than Key Largo,” said *Stephen Humphrey Bogart*, 63, who had just turned 8 in 1957 when his father died of cancer at age 57. Plans call for the Humphrey Bogart Film Festival to screen a rotating selection of Bogie classics and a group of movies centered on that year’s theme. There will be a formal Bogart Ball, an outdoor screening of 1942 best picture winner Casablanca, a display of Bogart memorabilia and tours on the fully restored African Queen, the boat used in the 1951 adventure movie that netted Bogart his only Oscar. “It just feels right to honor my father and his movies in this beautiful place, which has such an organic connection to his legacy,” said Stephen Bogart. The festival has the support of the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce and Bogart Llc., the entity through which the Bogart Estate manages the actor’s legacy. The festival has set up a [website|http://www.bogartfilmfestival.com/] so that fans can vote for the Bogart movies they'd like to see and, later, buy tickets and hotel packages. Another retro event like this that has enjoyed great success is the TCM Classic Film Festival, a celebration of classic movies that has been held in Hollywood in April for the past three years
