Steven Conway(Mickey Rooney)an ex WW2 vet is looking for his son who he hasnt seen in years.He finds from his ex hes on an island at a milatary school.He finds the local people from the town are living in fear of the island.Getting a boat Steve is shocked to learn his son is dead.In charge is sadistic Korean War Maj Redfern Kelly(Dan Duryea)Kellys staff including trashy teacher Jenniffer Evans(Terry Moore)are little better.Steve finds that the kids at the schol(Jimmy Boyd,Conway Twitty,etc)are druggies,thugs,and felons of every kind from rich families.Steve soon finds his son was murdered.The owner of the local store(Elisha Cook JR)is disgusted with the conditions,but hes little help..When Steve learns the truth about his son,the Major and his henchmen(Richard Jaeckl and Christopher Dark)have plans for him.
