Angiemac
TCM has shown every Doris Day film, having film festivals, with her as star of the month. Does anybody have any idea of why they do not broadcast "The Pajama Game", featuring John Raitt? Is it lost? Does someone own it and will not give up its rights to air? Does Doris Day or Bonnie Raitt have the lost reel or does it even exist. For a time before cable, it used to be shown on air tv WNYW in New York, channel 5. What do u think about this inquiry? markfp2
It's obvious from the number of other Doris Day films TCM shows, they'd run it if they could. Often, when channels lease films from the studios they'll pay a premium for exclusive rights and nobody else can show it during the term of their contract. There could be other reasons, but most often it has to do with rights issues. The fact that somebody showed it in the past, really doesn't relate to who has the rights now. If you really want to see it, THE PAJAMA GAME is available on DVD.
