don96
I don't believe that Claudette Colbert has ever been SOTO. She had a long leading lady career-beginning in the late 1920's--right up to the 1960's. She won an Academy Award. She made most of her films at Paramount--and a lot of her early films may be unavailable--but if anyone could manage to show some of them, probably TCM could. JamesJazGuitar
Colbert was SOTM in March of 2005.
Hibi
That's odd. I dont remember it..........Oh, well. Glad she was at least!
don96
Thanks. Maybe a full day in August would be more appropriate.
TopBilled
She had a day not long ago for SUTS, back on August 12, 2011. I remember, because I am a fan of hers and that happens to be my birthday...it was a very nice birthday treat.
cinemanut
I think Colbert is an excellent choice. Better than K. Hepburn [ for the upteenth time, and yes I do like her, but come on....] or a couple of others that have not only been SOTM more than once but also have had a SUTS day and ALWAYS have birthday salutes to them [ no names, please ] Colbert could do comedy, dramas, costume epics, etc; and she was sexy as hell. If you don't believe me, check out " It Happened One Night " hitchhiking scene or " Cleopatra ". I only wish TCM would have scheduled "Sign of the Cross". Hubba-hubba !!! DownGoesFrazier
She, to me, has the most old-style face of any of the major female stars. She doesn't look very comtemporary. This doesn't mean that she's not a good choice for SOTM.
rfinch000
Another vote for Claudette Colbert as SOTM. Her role as Cleopatra alone is worth viewing a dozen times....
Sepiatone
Yeah, I've always liked Colbert. But that doesn't stop me from having fun wondering what she would look like if she exchanged eyebrows with Joan Crawford. Or Groucho, IF there's really that much of a difference. TopBilled
Much of her career was spent at Paramount. Would TCM be able to get most of those films? Or would they rely on the later films she made when she freelanced?
JamesJazGuitar
I agree with Finance on Colbert. To me she is just not sexy in the vast majority of her roles. A lot of that has to do with her hairstyles (e.g. in Cleopatra with 'natural' hair she looks nice). I think she is a great actress and is very versatile. I enjoy her in many movies but I don't see much sexiness in her. But yes, Colbert as SOTM would be great.
DownGoesFrazier
Whenever I see Colbert, I think: That's how most grandmothers looked when they were young.
twinkeee
The reason Claudette Colbert had an odd or "old" syle face is because she had a 'heart shaped' face which is very uncommon.....unlike most actresses of her time...
DownGoesFrazier
I wonder if her heart was shaped like most people's faces.
