stargazing
I recently noticed the popularity of classic movie names starting with the name Johnny... (two of them starring George Raft, ha!) Johnny Allegro Johnny Angel Johnny Apollo Johnny Eager Johnny O'Clock I wonder if there are any more? And why was this such a popular trend? JamesJazGuitar
Yes, a lot of good noirs starting with the name Johnny. I assume that name is used because of the term 'John Doe'. i.e. the male name Johnny is very generic. Those with this name are used to being insulted! If they used a name like Frank, no Frank would go see the movie. Edited by: jamesjazzguitar on Sep 23, 2012 1:42 PM

twinkeee
Stargazing, You mention why was the name "Johnny" such a popular trend? Could it be because the name seems to roll of your tongue more easily.....'Franky O'Clock' or 'Johnny O'Clock'?, "Franky Angel' or 'Johnny Angel'? DougieB
Back in 1954 when he was still at Universal, Tony Curtis made "Johnny Dark", about car racing. Haven't seen it for years, but AMC showed it years back and it was actually pretty good. With Piper Laurie, naturally.
DownGoesFrazier
"Johnny One Note" was a Rodgers and Hart song. Was it also a film?
