filmlover
Some actors become so identified in a role that it is hard to think of them in anything else, especially when it is a complete change of genre. So I guffawed when I saw Richard Deacon as the high priest tonight. Richard Deacon will always be Mel in The DIck Van Dyke Show. I kept waiting for Buddy Sorel or Alan Brady to show up. SonOfUniversalHorror
Coincidentally, I just watched it tonight on DVD, but have to say it's a slow mover for the first two-thirds of the film. My favorite routine: Lou Costello and the tape recorder.
Dargo2
Here's my favorite routine in this movie.... (...but then again, I'm still tryin' to figure out "who's on first"?!!!)
filmlover
I got a kick out of the hamburger switching routine. It's a bit that has been done forever, but it is their comic timing that makes it funny.
willbefree25
Same here. Poor guy, to have people shout *Mel!* at the screen when he appears.
markbeckuaf
LOL! He's totally Mel Cooley! It was tough for me the first time I saw this to take him seriously at all! I love this flick, for me it's better than it's rep!
