ERB309
Last week I came across a short documentary film airing on TCM, told in a first person narrative, about a soldier's (sailor's?) travels across the Pacific in WW2 to Indochina, where he was assigned to a unit that was helping to support the Chinese. There he was eventually put in charge of plexiglass (?) repair. Anyway, I only caught a few minutes and now am curious about the film, but TCM's schedule only goes back a day or two so I can't find out what it was. Anybody happen to know? musicalnovelty
Was it on overnight Friday night, Sept. 29? If so, the film you're asking about could be THE SID SAGA, PART 1 (1985). It was a documentary produced by Sid Laverents telling his life story in three parts. TCM showed all three parts and the part that covered Sid's war experiences was Part 2. Here's info on Part 1: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2238240/ IMDb apparently has separate listings for each of the three parts. Here's the listing for Part 2 (1987): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2238250/
ERB309
That was indeed it -thanks! My brain was trying to get the right title and seemed to know that it was a three-letter name with an 'i' in the middle, but could come no closer than "Gil's Journey".
