Help ID Movie short musical/comedy, one guy whistling & playing instruments

I would love to find this movie again. A friend is in the hospital and this would really cheer him up.

It's about 20 minutes long and very weird but very fun. Maybe late 50's or early '60's. I saw it on TCM between movies about 3-4 months ago (June/July 2012).

It starts with a guy getting a 'movie' camera for Christmas.

He first records himself whistling a tune (he's not bad).

Then he adds a mandolin and we see/hear the combination.

Then he adds a flute (or something) and we hear the combination.

This keeps adding fun things like chimes, cans, soda bottles, etc.

And at the end the movie has different panels showing him playing different instruments and whistling.

It's raucous!

I think the guy was a scientist or engineer and that this movie may have won an award of some type for indy films.

Is there a database of awards somewhere?

Any clues would be most appreciated!

Is there a database that lists what movies were shown on TCM in the past?

I'm sure the film you mean is something called "Multiple SIDosis" from 1970.

It was created by the multi-talented Sid Laverents.

As you said, it was shown on TCM a little over three monthts ago, and sorry to say, you just missed its repeat showing one week ago (last Friday night, Sept. 28).

The print TCM showed looked great - good clear picture and color.

There are three different copies posted on YouTube, each certainly watchable, but not looking as good as what was on TCM.

Here's one:

And here's the third:

What's amazing is that Sid recorded each one of those numerous different film clips of him performing the song "Nola" separately and had to synchronize them all up for the final film!

Very talented and interesting guy! You should also check out the documentay/biographical film Sid made about his life, that TCM has shown after this short, called "The Sid Saga".
