gwtwbooklover
Found this book at a thrift shop and read it cover to cover an excellent read. I liked Collins honesty even when it painted her in the most unflattering light. She repeated and repeated what I guess is so true if you choose to work in the business- Bakers bake and actors act and she had to eat. What a telling of her life to that point. I've not read any thing else by her and understand she writes novels now-non fiction work I guess like her sister Jackie Collins. What seems hard for me to understand is how can one recall details. I have such trouble with recalling last week it is just amazing. Lauren Bacall's book is so detailed also the recall is something
therealfuster
but I think I would enjoy reading revelations by Joan. I mean she was kind of the second class Liz Taylor in the 1950's, and was courted by many then hunks like Beatty, et cetera so it should be a fun read. Joan was especially enjoyable in that film about Evelyn Nesbitt, called "The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing" and she looked a lot like her. That murder case shows that the more things change the more they stay the same. Shades of the Simpson situation and other entertainment debacles in court. gwtwbooklover
Wanted to let you know therealfuster that Joan talks about how she was in the offering for Cleopatra but the role went to Elizabeth Taylor. However, when Liz got sick her agent called her because the studio was going to use her for the role if Liz didn't pull through-of course she did but Joan writes about stepping into the role with misgivings and sweating it out she felt bad one's misfortune would give her the role and the studios "effienctcy" to find someone to repalce her. Oh, she mentions Beaty and several other people and her role in "The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing" she writes that Nesbitt was on the set during filming. I just wondered just now if Joan has written another book in the autobiography vein. I saw her on Craig Ferguson and she was very personable. For some reason the subject of jewelry came up and Craig called it bling-bling and Joan says- please I've had bling-bling long before Puff Daddy was born. Which leds to the question how did jewelry get to be called bling-bling I mean does that mean something else, short for something else or a made up name out of the blue...just wondering.
