SullivansTravels
latimes.com is reporting that "The Turkish Delight" of 1940's exotic adventures died last week in his birthplace of Vienna. He was 90 and had been suffering from Parkinson's Disease.
Swithin
So sorry to hear that, I remember we mentioned his 90th birthday on this board earlier this year. TCM showed the priceless rarity A Night in Paradise, in April, I think, in which Bey plays Aesop.
Dothery
How sad to hear that. I was thinking about him just recently and saw him in a couple of movies, one was where he was a phony mystic and the other where he played Aesop. Both of them were delightful because of his droll way of portraying the characters. RIP.

LiamCasey
Sad news indeed. I always first think of Turhan Bey in his role in 1942's "The Mummy's Tomb" whenever I see his name. But have enjoyed him in other movies and television shows.

Same here...I also think of him in The Climax with Susanna Foster, whom he was friends with for years afterward.
markbeckuaf
Very sad to hear, I remember him fondly from quite a few films I've enjoyed, and always liked his performances specifically. RIP, Turhan.

Janet0312
In the back of my aging brain, I seem to remember a story that Suzannah Foster and Turhan Bey were an item at one time and Universal frowned on the relationship. What say you, all knowing sonofuniversal?
SonOfUniversalHorror
It's possible, but I've never heard anything about the two of them. All I know is that for years any interview I've ever seen with Turhan, he always referred to Foster as "Susie". They were perfect together in *The Climax* ...they made such a cute and adorable couple in that film.
Janet0312
You are very knowledgeable concerning Universal. Did you know **** Seymour?
LiamCasey
Nice shot choice from the "The Mummy's Tomb". Love the fact that it is autographed. I have yet to see "The Climax". But "The Boris Karloff Collection" set of DVDs includes that movie and it is on my to be purchased list.
yogiboo
I'll admit to never have seen a movie of his but I did know of him. Frankly the "Turhan Bay" cartoon still is my gut reaction to hearing his name. Still makes me laugh. I was actually surprised to haer he was still alive. Sorry to hear of his passing.
