bhryun
I saw a film a long time ago that starred a Ray Milland-like actor who pushes or watches his fiance fall from a lighthouse. He is haunted by her (head pops up on a table, etc.) throughout the film scaring him into insanity. There's a huge twist ending involving wedding rings. He has a young sister or neighbor in the film who is always hanging around. Can anyone help me identify this film? I was very young when I saw it and no, I wasn't influenced by any alcoholic or illegal substances.
masker7
Hi- I just did a couple of "keyword" searches of plots contained in the Internet Movie Database online. There are a ton of possible matches but none that fit perfectly (according to what you wrote). One thing that would help is if we knew what decade you think the movie is from. At least that way we can eliminate, for example, all films released after 1970.
bhryun
Thanks for your help. I saw the film in the mid-sixties on TV, so I would guess something in the late 40's to late 50's. Movies took a while to show up on TV back then I would think? It was also in B&W....but now that I think about it, our TV may have been B&W.....the actress playing the fiance was a pretty blonde. carljackdarrow
Can't be positive, as it's been a long time, but this sounds like "Tormented" (1960) with Richard Carlson.
therealfuster
"The Screaming Skull" which is from 1958 I think. It stars John Hudson who is kind of a stoic type, and Peggy Webber and I can't remember a lot of it but some details you mention might fit. bhryun
Hey thank you carljackdarrow- You have just solved one of my personal mysteries that has plagued me for over 30 years! I just went to Netflix to verify and by the description and artwork, it has to be the film. I just added it to my list and moved it to the top of my queue. Now I'll finally see the film I was beginning to think I imagined or had as a childhood nightmare. Thanks again- jlc
