Well, pornography is really objective. My Mother, for instance, thought ALL Robin Williams movies were "smut". Don't exactly know why, but she hated that "smut" to the point she refused to watch *Awakenings* just because that "smut" actor Williams was in it.

 

 

I agree with Dothery that "EASTWICK" was terrible, but not the worst I've seen. At least, to me, it fares better than that ridiculous CAGE/TRAVOLTA vehicle *Face/Off* .

 

 

*U-571* really wasn't all that bad of a movie, but yes, it pales next to many OTHER WWII submarine movies. But as long as there's been movies like *The Avengers* , with Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman released to the general public, 571 is a towering epic, comparitively.

(...and yeah, Harryhausen's version of Medusa there definite looks like it was inspired after Ray had watched an "I Love Lucy" TV marathon, alright!)

Thanks to Rifftrax I just saw a really bad one called BERMUDA TRIANGLE-- Italian dubbed in English very badly. Worst part is that it features none other than John Huston! NOOOOO!!!!!!

One on my list is this year's "The Great Gatsby." I think this is the first movie I ever left. It made me ill. So many quick cuts and camera movement (and I can't find words to say about the music) that it all made me dizzy.

The main saving grace to The Great Gatsby is that the previews were so over-the-top mindless that it easily deterred me from seeing the complete movie.

It surprises me that this thread has gone 14 pages without ANYONE bringing up that disaster NELL, with Jodie Foster and Liam Neeson. All that nonsense about trying to figure out some language they thought she invented. Oy! Earlier on, it was mentioned in the movie that Nell was brought up by an old southern woman who suffered a serious stroke! After having a Father and two Aunts who died from multiple strokes, when Nell first opened her mouth, it was apparent to ME how she developed her speech. Everyone in that horrible flick seemed to have MISSED it! NELL is a true insult to ANY level of intelligence.

Resurrecting the thread....

A mentioning of director Bob Clark in another thread brought to mind that cinematic sinkhole Baby Geniuses, a film so bad I detested it even when I was young and liked just about anything.

i never watched all of Trader Horn, but its horribly handled, very offensive really and racist. And it all moves at the pace of an arthritic snail. The Oscar too was a stinker I never watched all of as it was just so bad.

A Stranger Among Us was just incredibly bizarre. Not a complete wash, due to some interesting supporting roles and moments, and Melanie Griffith, despite being badly miscast, still managed some charm (the film needed an Ellen Barkin, a Jaime Lee Curtis, or a Debra Winger). But the script was amateur night in Dixie. What kind of cold-blooded killer says the hokey phrase "okey-dokey" when being confronted by the police? Director Sidney Lumet, a true veteran, should have known better and deep sixed the script.

other least favorites include films that were thumping bores (The Night of the Following Day, The Thief Who Came to Dinner, Morvern Callar,  The General Died at Dawn, Two Loves, Tell Them Willie Boy Was Here ), aggressively overpraised (Crash, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, The Post, American Beauty, The Revenant, Birdman , Dallas Buyers Club, The Squid and the Whale, The Usual Suspects ) , completely lacking in wit or humor (The 'Burbs, In Like Flint) ,   or morally offensive to me (Easy A, Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex..., Midnight Express, Captain Fantastic, Heathers, Alfie)

I've seen bad movies, and then I've seen The Garbage Pail Kids. I can make a solid case on it being the worst I've seen because at least other movies can turn into "So bad it's good" or "So bad it's hilariously bad" or have multiple features that generate enjoyment. This movie had Anthony Newley. That's it. The only good part about it as it encompasses the worst of the 80s, complete with unlikable characters, repulsive aliens who move their mouths with minimal effort, repetitive gross-out gags, the antithesis of warmth, joy, empathy or entertainment and one of the worst original songs spawned by rejects of Satan's orchestra.

My television tried to fight back by freezing during it's running but I kept on going into the trenches and came out but a shadow.

This is one of my top 10 worst..."Battle of Los Angeles" (2011) don't confuse it with the other movie "Battle Los Angeles" which I like.

Well,  test audiences raised a different type of ruckus a decade later when Warner Bros. opened the much maligned Exorcist II: The Heretic in 1977. To quote from the IMDb trivia page....
