That's Jimmy Conlin.

Made a hilarious Vitaphone comedy short in 1928 with his wife Myrtle Glass, but is probably best remembered as one of Preston Sturges' "stock company", appearing in most of Sturges' movies.

Hey Metz, you've been doing a great job with your photos!

 

I am sure I have seen that last man in some film, with his black hat and coat, but I can't remember which film or what his name is.

 

I'm not very good at remembering the names of character acters like this.

my contributions are paltry compared to other posters ..but..

the man is J farrell macdonald..he had a tiny spot role in capras ""its a wonderful life"

as the old man hurrying home when jimmy stewart crashes his old jalopy into his tree

he says something about potterville and stewart contaradicts him ..the old guy says i" lts potterville ..dont you thin k i know where i live" great film..dont miss it when it airs on tcm

surely some one remembers this great actor

 

he played the drunken doctor in mutiny on the bounty...and the police inspector in raffles and the invisible man ..see previouis post for picture

That's Melville Cooper. He played the Sheriff of Nottingham in "The Adventures Of Robin Hood". The guy in the hat from yesterday is Trevor Bardette.
