batliner
I cant remember the title of a movie. Its about a man who writes a book on how to fish, although he has no knowledge of how to fish. Then he has to compete in a fishing competition in which through complete accidental catching of fish, he wins. I thought it starred James Garner but Ive looked through his discography and it appears to not be him. Any help would be fantastic.
fredbaetz
Sounds like Howard Hawks 1964 comedy "Man's Favorite Sport?" with Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss..
ValentineXavier
I believe that there was an earlier, 40s?, B&W film with that plot, but I can't recall the title at the moment.

ValentineXavier
No, the film I can't recall had the fishing stuff in it, and I don't recall anything like that in *Libeled Lady*. I was thinking that maybe Cary Grant was in the film I'm thinking of, but I couldn't find anything to match, while poking around the IMDb.
fredbaetz
In "Libeled Lady", William Powell claims to be an expert trout fisherman in order to get close to Myrna Loy and her father. Of course, he doesn't know how to fish, so he buys a book and while on a fishing trip with them he's trying to fish and read the book and falls in the water and catches a big trout. The film has nothing else on fishing other then him bragging to Loy and daddy.
