RMeingast
Received an interesting article from BFI (British Film Institute) on Facebook about Ealing Studio's 1950 film "The Blue Lamp." "The Blue Lamp" is a crime film that supposedly contains one of the most shocking scenes in British cinema (up to that point, I guess, in 1950): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blue_Lamp Anyway, BFI article on the film is here: http://www.bfi.org.uk/news/that-ealing-moment-blue-lamp
bagladymimi
That looks really interesting. Hopefully, TCM will be able to get a copy and air this some day in the near future. I wonder just how shocking the scene would be in today's world of CSI's and Criminal Minds. Thanks for the message!
slaytonf
Well, misswonderly, if your scruples allow it, you can see it on YouTube. Just type in the title.
misswonderly3
thanks, slayton. Every now and then posters here very kindly let me know when a film I've expressed an interest in is available on youtube, or elsewhere on the internet. And recently a very good friend of mine sent me a link to a Marty Scorsese documentary we'd discussed. I am grateful for the thoughtfulness of all of you who do this, but the truth is, although I don't mind sitting at the computer for an hour or so participating on sites like this or reading and writing emails, (not to mention catching good music on youtube), I am averse to actually watching a movie via the internet, off my computer screen. The screen isn't big enough, I'm physically rather uncomfortable, and it just ain't the same experience at all as watching a film on my television screen. But I know that a lot of people get to see hard to find movies that way, and I'm happy for them. B-)
