bthnown
Hi All! I saw a film on TCM several months ago and fell in love with it! I have little to go on, but this is what I remember: I'm guessing it is from the 50's or 60's and it is about a movie star or famous woman (I think). I don't know any of the actors in the film. However, the thing I remember most is that every scene the main actress is in, her clothing and or/gowns seem to be brighter than the background and are the main focus of the scene. There is a scene of her walking downstairs in a sparkly green gown. I remember there to be a lot of costume changes. I think there was a scene where she was in a dressing room. (Not Barefoot Contessa). Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks, B.
swimminginaqua
I'm brand new here but could the movie be, "Designing Woman" with Lauren Bacall from 1957? She was a fashion designer in the film and had hundreds of outfit changes.
Sepiatone
Yes, it very well could be the Bacall movie. As the concept for the movie came from fashion designer Helen Rose, it could explain why the clothes were prominent in their display. Haven't seen it in a long while, so I can't say for sure. swimminginaqua
I'm pretty sure this is the movie...Dolores Gray is wearing a fabulous mermaid gown...I saw the movie about a month ago and I, too was mesmerized by the gown. Here's a clip - (hope it doesn't violate any rules):
bthnown
Designing Women is not the film. But you were right on with the sparkly green dress... beautiful!
Fedya
Would it by any chance be *Auntie Mame* ? A lot of scenes in that movie end with just a spotlight on Mame (played by Rosalind Russell).
