RMeingast
Came across an item about this video that Chanel has, supposedly of never-before-seen photos and film of Marilyn Monroe. It's been recently released and is part of the "Inside Chanel" history series. View it here (Chapter 2 on Marilyn Monroe): http://pr.chanel.com/n5/2012/5/ In French and English... Chapter 1 is sort of a neat video too: http://inside.chanel.com/en/#!/no5/history Anyway, something different and a clever way to advertise... Arturo
During the nude calendar scandal, wasn't MM's answer to questions from the press about whether she had anything on. "Chanel No.5"? Or alternately, "The Radio".
DougieB
There's a riff on that in "My Week With Marilyn". Toby Jones as her publicist Arthur Jacobs, to get the ball rolling at her first English press conference, repeats that question about what she wears to bed, to which she replies something to the effect that since she's in England she should probably say Yardley's Lavender. Chanel is so lucky to have the rights to that iconic shot of her splashing it on in front of the mirror. It's the ultimate in product placement. Yes, you can watch the video in English. Audio tape at end of clip has Monroe explaining that she didn't want to answer "nude" to the question of what she slept in/what she wore to bed, so she answered "Chanel No. 5" instead... Video also includes unpublished photos of Monroe in bed done for "Modern Screen" that show a bottle of Chanel No. 5 on her bedside nightstand... Anyway, excellent ad for that brand of perfume... RMeingast
Well, related to the Quentin Tarantino article in "Playboy" (referenced in another thread) I guess that magazine is putting out a special edition for December 2012 in honour of the 50th "anniversary" of Marilyn Monroe's death. She died in August so don't understand why they waited until December, but whatever... I also don't think it's an appropriate way to remember someone, but, again, whatever... I prefer the Chanel No. 5 sort fo thing, I guess, and her feature films... Also prefer to honour the birthdate, for example... Article in "The Daily Mail" about it here (warning for photos): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2234816/Playboys-special-edition-Marilyn-Monroes-nude-photos-50th-anniversary-death.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
