Studio email in the 60s????

Recommended Posts

I may be losing my mind, someone tell me if so:

I could swear I just heard Ben Mankiewicz intro "Lawrence of Arabia" with the anecdote about Lean wanting Brando for the lead, and I'd swear Ben ended it by saying that Brando never even answered Lean's email (paraphrase, but I think mighty close)!

I didn't think Al Gore had invented the internet yet in '62, let alone that either Lean or Brando would have had a mainframe in their offices for fielding email even earlier before O'Toole was cast!

Did I mis-hear?
