RMeingast
Facebook feed today from BFI (British Film Institute) has shared the news of the online premiere of Alfred Hitchcock's early and long lost film "The White Shadow": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_White_Shadow_%28film%29 Hitchcock was assistant director, film editor and set designer for the film, as well as being responsible for the film's "scenario." Main film players are: Betty Compson: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Compson Clive Brook: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clive_Brook Henry Victor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Victor Film was long thought lost until re-discovered in 1989 in New Zealand, then it was restored. Online film is 43 minutes and change (only 3 of the 6 reels of the film were re-discovered). Film is available for viewing at the National Film Preservation Foundation website and they have provided film notes to go with the online movie... *View it here:* *http://www.filmpreservation.org/preserved-films/screening-room/the-white-shadow-1924* Film was debuted at AMPAS last year in Los Angeles, but the BFI has shared the news of the NFPF posting of the film online for the general public... gagman66
I watched the surviving three reels and thought it was wonderful. Exquisitely photographed. Graham Cutts seemed to have taught Hitch allot. Betty Compson just looks gorgeous! I hope that the rest of the movie, the final three reels will yet be discovered
