dpompper
I've heard of a couple of them and have seen ZERO of them. Does that mean we're quite a boring lot?

There is a constant stream of new things. A gadfly will flit from one to the next and be happy with them solely because they are new things. We wait until the passage of time has shown that certain ones are worthy of our time and consideration.

I haven't seen any of them... Remember, I'm the guy who hasn't been to a movie theatre in 20 years or more... But I have read about some of them... "The Master" is supposed to be about the Church of Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master_%282012_film%29'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master_%282012_film%29'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master_%282012_film%29'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master_%282012_film%29 Of course, it's not an overt biography of Hubbard and his church... Different names are used... The Wiki article states there are other inspirations for the film too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master_%282012_film%29 Think "The Master" has been released in North America... "Amour" is about rather difficult subject matter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amour_%282012_film%29 "Moonrise Kingdom" I've read about and seen ads. on TV for, so I think it's been released in North America... Not my cup of tea: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonrise_Kingdom "Cosmospolis" by Canadian David Cronenberg also think has been released in North America: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmopolis_%28film%29 The others I don't know too much about other than reading reviews... The "Sight & Sound" list will be in the January 2013 issue of that magazine... They asked 90 film critics from all over the world to name their top 5 films and also other films that are notable... The magazine then sorted all the responses out... Since I don't go to movies, I probably won't see any of them for years to come... But eventually, I'll probably see them... sfpcc1
I highly recomend Moonrise Kingdom, (on DVD) especially for fans of older films.
